Thank you to all you leaders who are reinventing education as we go. You are all flying planes while building them at the same time to take our students on a new unchartered learning journey.

I agree Yashim! I am also a co-teacher in the Google classroom and we use Class Dojo to communicate. Many of my parents also do not have emails addresses, but they do have phones!
Hugo-Discovery Education
39:37
Very innovative approach. Yoshim was able to do a “virtual walkthrough” by being rostered on all teacher’s classes on Google Classroom. Brilliant idea!
Karen Discovery Ed.

Shawne Kearney

Have any participants’ school districts decided on how to proceed next school year? How will you start the school year? At-Home full-time, a hybrid schedule? Has anyone heard of the 12 to 1 student-teacher ratio that may be recommended?
Melissa Hampton Discovery Education
01:02:24
Will do!
Ginger PAUL
01:03:41
We are sending surveys to all families, students and staff for their feelings regarding reentry
David Camarena
01:03:57
Have your districts provided surveys for parent feedback?
Shannon Chamberlin
01:04:33
We are surveying right now but I have concerns that parent desire is guiding our decision as opposed to health guidelines.
Hugo-Discovery Education
01:04:36
From Shawne: What does equity look like for EL families who made need more instruction because they are learning two languages. How about GATE students?
Melissa Hampton Discovery Education
01:04:37

How about inclusion special students with limited skills?
Duane Legg
01:05:08
Surveys and staff think tanks are on now
Ginger PAUL
01:05:22
We have been given templates and then as principals we needed to make it school specific for staff, students, and parents
Ginger PAUL
01:05:41
We have DHH students
David Camarena
01:05:52
Is anyone finishing the school year early? We will be ending instruction on May 29th vs June 5th
Danny Barbara
01:06:11
Having conversations about reopening, but relying on state and county health guidance and recommendations.
Shannon Chamberlin
01:06:20
We are collecting textbooks early but being told to teach until the end?
Ginger PAUL
01:06:28
We are looking at acquiring clear masks for equity so those students in general education who are lip readers can participate in collaboration in addition to read the lips of teachers
Danny Barbara
01:07:02
Our last day of instruction is June 5, but will be holding connectedness and community building activities through the end of the year, June 12
David Camarena
01:07:39

Yadira Zapata
01:10:42
There is definitely much to consider with that; first being scheduling siblings on same days as much as possible to decrease stress with families/child care/ etc.
Shawne Kearney
01:11:21
Our district created a task force which will address 4 different scenarios of opening in the fall. We created subcommittees for safety, communication, EL, Intervention, Maintenance, transportation, food services etc.
Jone
01:11:27
In an alternating schedule: would the teachers be teaching online and in class at the same time?
David Camarena

@Shanwe. We’re doing something similar as well
Tammy Barrera
01:12:23
We also have to consider bus transportation when dividing up students
